Pitsford and Brampton Station

Uploader's Comments

The railway through Pitsford originally opened in 1859. The inconveniently located Pitsford and Brampton station was an early casualty, closing in 1950, although local services between Northampton and Market Harborough were to continue until 1960. After that the line had a use until the 1980s as a link between the West Coast Main Line and the Midland Line used by freight and sporadic passenger services, latterly being open only for a night shift. After closure, a small length of the route here at Pitsford was taken over by enthusiasts and the station is seen here in 2000 with some evidence of activity as one of the smaller preserved lines in the country.
