The sand and gravel quarry on land at Outerston farm. The quarry developers lodged a planning application in December 1992 which attracted local opposition particularly from the residents of Temple village. Planning permission was initially refused in May 1994, but after appeal, conditional planning permission was granted in autumn 1995.
