Barkston Heath, Lincolnshire

Redundant fence at RAF Barkston Heath

Uploader's Comments

In spite of appearances, Barkston Heath is still an active RAF airfield, being used as a satellite landing ground by training aircraft from nearby RAF Cranwell. During the Second World War the airfield was used by the USAAF for troop carrier units and sent paratroops to both Operation Overlord and Operation Market Garden.
