Almshouse Wood, Essex

Milestone, Bulmer

Uploader's Comments

Carved stone post by the A132, in parish of Bulmer (Braintree District), 200m North of entrance to Gentry's Farm, back of verge in hedge (sunk below surface). Erected by the Chelmsford (Div of Essex First Dist) Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. The illegible inscription probably once gave distances to Halstead and Sudbury. Not listed by Historic England. Milestone Society National ID: EX_BTSB52. From National Survey of Wayside Features by The Milestone Society.
