Tarbolton, par. and vil. and ry. sta., Ayrshire - par. (containing Annbank), 12,059 ac., pop. 3599; vil., on Water of Fail, 1½ mile NW. of Tarbolton sta. and 7 NE. of Ayr, pop. 922; P.O., T.O., and P.O. (at sta.), called Tarbolton Station; was made a burgh of barony in 1671. The vil. and its neighbourhood have many reminiscences of the poet Burns.
