Rochford.-- small town and par., Essex, on river Roche, 3½ miles N. of Southend on Sea and 16½ miles SE. of Chelmsford, 1867 ac., pop. 1675; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; Rochford Hall (part of which still stands) was the birthplace of Anne Boleyn (1507-1536), mother of Queen Elizabeth.
