Newnham.-- town and par. with ry. sta., Gloucestershire, on river Severn, 11 miles SW. of Gloucester and 114 miles from London, 1937 ac. pop. 1455; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Newnham was formerly a borough, sending 1 member to Parliament. It is situated on the high road from Gloucester to Chepstow, and has a fair industry in tanning, and trade in timber, bark, coal, slate, &c. There is a line of railway to the coal and iron mines of the Forest of Dean.
