Langport.-- market town and par. (Langport Eastover) with ry. sta., Somerset, on river Parret, 12 miles NW. of Yeovil, 171 ac., pop. 897; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank, 1 newspaper. Market-day, Tuesday. A charter was granted to this town by James I. It supports a considerable trade chiefly by boat traffic with Bridgwater, the articles of commerce being coal, timber, iron, salt, and bricks.
