Berks, in valley on river Thames, 4 miles NW. of Maidenhead, 4159 ac., pop. 1132; is a picturesque vil. with old timber houses; in its vicinity are the remains of Hurley Place, an old house celebrated in the Revolution of 1688 in connection with Richard Lord Lovelace.
