Bedwin, or Bedwyn, Great, par. and town with ry. sta., S. Wilts, 5 miles SW. of Hungerford, 9993 ac. (36 water), pop. 1834; P.O. Market-day, Tuesday. Has ancient church, with interesting monuments; birthplace of Dr Willis (1622-1675), physician and anatomist. Chisbury, a Saxon camp of 15 ac., with rampart 45 ft. high, is 1 mile to NE.
