Charing, par. and vil., E. Kent, 5½ miles NW. of Ashford, 4681 ac., pop. 1349; P.O., T.O. The vil. is situated at the intersection of the Maidstone and Canterbury roads. The ruins of the archiepiscopal palace are of great interest.
