Brodick, quoad sacra par., vil., and bay, Kilbride par., Arran island, Buteshire, pop. of par. 993; P.O., T.O. The vil., situated at the head of the bay, 4 miles NW. of Lamlash, is a favourite watering-place, with iron pier for the accommodation of the steamhoat traffic. On N. shore of bay is Brodick Castle, seat of the Duke of Hamilton, occupying the site and embracing a considerable portion of a very ancient fortress.
