Blyth.-- township (South Blyth and Newsham) and seaport with ry. sta., Earsdon par., S. Northumberland, on S. side of river Blyth, at its mouth, 9 miles SE. of Morpeth, 1226 ac., pop. 2831; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 1 newspaper; has a good harb. and considerable coasting trade. There is a lighthouse here, with 2 fixed lights visible 7 and 11 miles. North Blyth, in Bedlington par., is on the opposite-side of the river.
