The 13.05 Euston to Perth is headed by Stanier 'Priness-Coronation' Pacific No. 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' (built 7/38, withdrawn 2/64 and preserved - now at Midland Railway, Butterley). Electrification south of Crewe is well under way and Madeley station had only been closed two months before. (See also [[2163420]].)
