Uffington.-- par., township, and vil. with ry. sta., Berks, in White Horse Vale, under White Horse Hill, 4 miles S. of Faringdon - par., 5882 ac., pop. 936; township, 2696 ac., pop. 566; P.O.; takes its name from the Saxon king Uffa, and is described in Tom Brown's School-Days; Uffington Castle is a double-ditched ancient camp; Uffington gives the title of viscount to the Earl of Craven.
