Thornthwaite Crag, Cumbria

Embedded rocks on Thornthwaite Crag

Uploader's Comments

A wall runs north from Thornthwaite Beacon which is a tall columnar cairn set on a rock plinth; it's generally regarded as being the summit of Thornthwaite Crag. It's possible however that the ground seen here, just to the east of that wall could be as high or even a fraction higher than the rock on which the beacon stands. High Street is the whale back of a mountain in the distance.
