St Catherine's Island, Pembrokeshire

Tenby, St Catherine's Island

Uploader's Comments

St Catherine's Island was fortified during Lord Palmerston's programme for the defence of Britain during the 1860s. In 1907 the fort was decommissioned and later adapted as a private residence, until 1962. It is now being refurbished for public access and possible use as a museum. The island is easily accessible on foot at low tide.
