This house is perhaps better described as West Lodge, being the western access to Hopetoun House and Blue Gate may derive from the gate shown at the right of the photo which is painted blue. Estate vehicles,the 'postie' and pedestrians may use this entrance to the estate but other visitors to Hopetoun House must enter via the East Lodge at Society.
