Sawley, township and vil., Mitton par., N. div. West-Riding Yorkshire - township, 2104 ac., pop. 178; vil., on river Ribble, 4 miles NE. of Clitheroe; P.O.; the ruins of Sawley Abbey, founded in 1147, are in the vicinity, and form a source of great attraction to visitors.
