The Ritec, Pembrokeshire

Carswell Medieval House, Penally

Uploader's Comments

This small 14C house is cared for by CADW and is described in the Pembrokeshire volume of 'The Buildings of Wales'. The first floor was reached either by an external staircase, now lost, or a ladder, the barrel-vaulted ground floor has a large fireplace suitable for a kitchen (see [[5185414]]). The book mentions another rebuilt old house with a pointed vaulted undercroft on the opposite side of the yard. The driveway starts at a sharp bend in the narrow lane, and is rather rough. You have to park somewhere in the farm and walk on until you see the ruin.
