Rhyl, watering-place, Rhuddlan par., Flintshire, near mouth of river Clwyd, 6 miles NW. of St Asaph, and 30 NW. of Chester by rail, 600 ac., pop. 6029; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 6 newspapers. Rhyl has a fine sandy beach, an aquarium and winter garden, a promenade pier, baths, and all the other equipments of a watering-place. There is steam communication with Liverpool, Rhyl is a local government district; until about 1830 it was merely a fishing vil.
