Porthmoina Island, Cornwall

Porthmoina Island from the coast path

Uploader's Comments

With the right equipment and some time to set it up, it's historically been possible to string a rope from the crags on the right (Bosigran Cliff) to the top of Porthmoina Island, creating a Tyrolean Traverse across the zawn below. However, a voluntary access agreement arranged by the West Penwith Environmental Liaison Group (which includes the Lands End CC, BMC, National Trust, English Nature and others) has been put in place with effect from 2012, and this means that the island is now treated as a widllife sanctuary and bird nesting area, into which no human access is allowed.
