Wolterton Hall

Uploader's Comments

Wolterton Park is open every day - there are walks giving views of the Hall and the Lake, with links to the Weavers' Way long distance footpath and Holt Circular Walk. There is an orienteering course (available in three levels of length and difficulty) for which a leaflet can be obtained from the kiosk in the carpark (nominal charge). The Hall was originally built in the 1720s for Horatio Walpole, whose elder brother Robert was Britain's first Prime Minister, and was restored by the 5th Earl in 1905. There has been an ongoing program of research and conservation since the current Lord Walpole inherited the property in 1989. The Hall is open to visitors on certain days and is licensed for wedding ceremonies.
