The river flows through many rocky channels in this section and its valley (variously called Lunesdale, Lonsdale or the Lune Valley) is one of the most beautiful in England. This pool appears to be called Old Bridge Hole - the site of the original bridge? There is a quarry on the west bank here which may have provided material for one or other of the bridges. Here are some canoeists using the pool for a spot of fun [[1697710]]
