North Molton, par. and vil., Devon - par., 14,351 ac., pop. 1547; vil., 3½ miles NE. of South Molton; P.O.; stands partly on a hill slope and partly in the valley of th'e Mole; was once a market town and a place of great importance, and has cattle fairs; a copper mine is in vicinity. The church (restored 1849) is ancient.
