Injured calf in beck

Uploader's Comments

As I descended the bridleway I came across this sorry calf lying in the stream. At first I thought it was dead but it moved as I approached. I tried to lift it out of the water but it was too heavy and I was afraid of causing it further injury. A rather rank smell suggested that it had been lying there for some time. I called for help at a nearby house and the local farmer was alerted. Hopefully, the calf survived - much longer in the beck and it probably would have died from hypothermia.
