Meall an Fheidh, Highland

Cona Glen

Uploader's Comments

A very good site for post glacial features: U-shaped valley with corries on the north facing side and smooth steep hillsides on the sunny side. The glacier found the old east west drainage, a pattern dating from when the uplifted pre glacial Highland plateau drained into a deep valley where the North Sea is now. The resulting sedimentary basin is where the oilfields are now. Today the glen's drainage is interrupted by the glacier that formed Loch Linnhe.
