Lee Mouth, Devon

Road to the beach 1-Lee Abbey, North Devon

Uploader's Comments

Lee Abbey has been a Christian retreat, conference and holiday centre since 1946. There was a house on this site in the 17th century and the Abbey was built in 1850, becoming an hotel in 1924. Abbey is a little misleading as there are no monks or nuns, but there are people from many countries working as temporary staff here. At the centre of an extensive estate with paths and woodland, it makes an excellent place for a holiday. This road leads down to the private beach of the Lee Abbey Estate and it is also the route of the North Devon Coast Path.
