The road is crossing between two valleys, Baldersdale and Lunedale and as seen is heading towards the latter. The minor hill, Brownberry, is covered with coniferous trees. Along the line of the road and just below the trees a survey column can be seen; it was doubtless concerned with the construction of the reservoirs in the area.
