Garrison Point, Kent

Garrison Point Fort, Sheerness

The fort was built in the 1860's, replacing a 17th century fortification. In plan the fort is D-shaped, and it seems to me that - without the 20th and 21st century clutter - it would look not so very different from one of Henry VIII's coastal 'Device Forts': http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3103606
