The summit of Fastheugh Hill mapped at 1:25 000 (but not at 1:50 000) shows two, separate contour rings enclosing ground above 500m; Coplaw Cairn occupies the more southerly and smaller of them. The west ridge of the hill extends beyond the cairn and the walker.
