Bay -- par., 881 ac., pop. 2236; parl. burgh, pop. 2033; royal burgh, 3682; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks; has linen mfrs., and important cod, ling, salmon, and herring fisheries. In vicinity is C. House, seat of the Earl of Seafield. C. unites with Elgin, Banff, Inverurie, Kintore, and Peterhead in returning 1 member to Parliament.
