Etty's 100th Birthday! July 5th 2008

Uploader's Comments

Etty (Ester Smith), first came to Devon with her grandfather, who owned a "holiday cottage" at nearby Watertown. He and his extended family came down on their own hired train. The present Snapdown was build by Etty's father in the year before the war (1939-45). (There is an older adjoining cottage, that was the labourer's cottage for Newlands Farm). Etty was a rebel, wanting to farm! After some years on Exmoor she came to Snapdown, taking on the house and farm from her father. She farmed it well into her 80s! She died in 2009, age 101yrs.
