Bridge Over the Nimney Bourne

Uploader's Comments

Bourne is a word of Anglo-Saxon origin meaning (small) river. It has the same linguistic roots as the Scottish "burn". It crops up in place names quite a lot e.g. Bournemouth, Crambourne etc. It also appears as a double name e.g. River Bourne (meaning river river) quite frequently. e.g. there are River Bournes in Wiltshire, Berkshire and Dorset.
